Jack Straw’s cynical election ploy of scrapping his controversial early
release scheme for prisoners only weeks before polling day shows how desperate
this government is.
Jack Straw announced the ending of the scheme, which has resulted in
nearly 80,000 offenders walking free 18 days before their sentence reaches its
halfway point.
Jack said it is now 'safe' to do away with it.
However, his department also slipped out separate plans to release more
prisoners on bail and electronic tags.
This is clear evidence that Labour are electioneering and Jack is merely
rebranding the early release scheme under a different name.
Known officially as End of Custody Licence, the scheme has been
contentious since its introduction in 2007.
Prisoners set free early have allegedly carried out 1,512 offences
including three murders, and rapes and assaults.
The system covered all prisoners sentenced to less than four years,
excluding serious violent and sexual offenders and terrorists.
See links
Jack Straw has admitted the scheme had been 'inherently unsatisfactory
and potentially damaging to public confidence in justice'.
Jack’s department has awarded a new contract to allow prisoners to serve
out their sentences at home rather than in prison.
Jack is talking tough on crime before the election, to make it tough on
us after it.
Government officials expected prison capacity to be exceeded by June 2011
and predict a 'crisis of overcrowding' within two years.
The scheme is not being scrapped but merely re-branded.

Do right minded individuals understand or, more importantly, notice the duplicity that is being revealed during the Chilcot inquiry?
As the murky waters rise upwards, it's now emerged that Jack Straw could have stopped Blair on Iraq and only supported the war "very reluctantly"- his own words - which flies in the face of what has been revealed; that is he ignored advice that the invasion was illegal and, as I write, is now being recalled to explain.
Two chief
legal advisers at the time of the invasion told the inquiry Straw dismissed
their warnings against military action.
Yet, the
Justice Secretary realised HIS support for military action was critical and he
was posed with a (quote) "moral as well as political dilemma." What is
'moral' about ignoring such advice and taking us to war?
Time and time
again, not only Jack Straw, but other important political figures of that time
are either refusing to admit what actually went on or their 'contradictions' are
being found out.
It's now
glaringly obvious that those in power have tried to shift the blame on to
others, ignored the legal process of this land, and, more importantly,
treated its citizens with the utmost contempt.
I wonder
what's going through the minds of victims' loved ones - on both sides - as they
watch this sorry excuse for a government air their dirty linen in public.
People are sick of their contemptuous 'not me gov' attitude.
Oh what a
tangled web we weave et cetera. At your peril, Mr. Straw, ignore
your citizens. The truth is finding you out.

Councilor Salim Mulla suggests easy ways to save the UK £20 million and then, enigmatically, ends with the words ‘New Tories, New Danger.’…..WHAT’S ALL THAT ABOUT?
Consider this:- Gordon Brown sold off a large portion of our gold, at a record low price (we could have used that money now). He was also guilty of raiding private pensions to the tune of £5 billion pounds PER YEAR. A 10p tax on LOW PAID WORKERS was introduced last year. Down the river we’ve been also sold when it comes to human rights, crime and punishment, immigration etc. These are just a few of their illogical economic ‘policies’.
Labour introduced 24 hour drinking, did nothing to stop the sale of alcohol at extremely low prices and now has the temerity to ignore the problem of ‘binge’ drinking…..A problem they introduced ,and by doing so, also blighted the accident and emergency departments of the over-burdened NHS.
We’re the only G20 country still in recession thanks to Labour mismanagement. This country is drowning in bureaucracy and government ‘quangos’. The police can’t even look at anyone without filling in mountainous forms. The education system is in utter chaos.
Mr. Brown is now clutching at straws by using the class war (another off-the-cuff statement) until he realised that most of his front bench were privately educated. It’s now a case of ‘do as I say, not as I do’.
As I write, the Institute of Fiscal Studies acknowledge that cuts are inevitable. The backlash to Chancellor Alistair Darlings’ pre-budget speech has resulted in the decline of British Government Bonds. The national debt run up by Labour is now the equivalent of nearly £25,000 for every man, woman and child in the country.
Labour’s run out of ideas, are totally incapable of thinking ‘outside of the box’ and can do nothing other than point fingers and blame others for their own inadequacies.
Oh! Just one tiny and very important item on their agenda – Iraq / Afghanistan – now they’ve finally decided to inspect their own books on Iraq. One last question for you Councillor Mulla – who rubber-stamped it? There, you have all the answers. I rest my case.

So Greg Pope – Labour MP for Hyndburn – has slammed critics
of the Iraq war inquiry, saying they’d only be happy “with Tony Blair’s head on
a pikestaff.” WHAT A
HYPOCRITE!...............
This is the same Greg Pope who was a member of the Foreign
Affairs Select Committee who quizzed weapons expert Dr. David Kelly.
A ‘pack’ – and there are stronger words I could use – who drove Dr. Kelly
to his death with their aggressive questioning.
Following Dr. Kelly’s ‘suicide’, Greg Pope was quick to
claim his particular questions were ‘reasonable in both tone and content’……in
other words ‘not me gov’ and yet he witnessed, and was part of,
the constant hounding of this decent man who, on reflection, told the
truth about weapons of mass destruction.
The only weapons of mass destruction Mr. Pope, are the
likes of you and your team of hypocrites.
Blair tops that list followed closely, of course,
by Jack Straw who headed a ‘pack’ of MPs who now, as a direct result of
their actions, have an unstoppable
flow of blood on their hands.
That includes you Mr. Pope.

On a recent
visit to Canterbury Cathedral I saw a plaque listing hundreds of British
fatalities of the Afghan war. Thinking it had been hastily erected I
was shocked to read the date 1814.
It's about
time these egotistical politicians stopped sending our ill-equipped young men
and women to fight a useless war.
1814, 1914,(Lions led by Donkey's) 2009 - ring any bells!
Using the European Human Rights Act is another attempt to ignore our laws
and only serves to fill the purses of greedy lawyers.
For instance, read this paragraph from the Daily Express of 16th
November, 2009:-
“In dramatic
contrast to the harassment of Ms Kelly (Fined
£75 for feeding ducks) is the sick leniency shown to Malaysian immigrant,
Agnes Wong, who was convicted last year of the savage manslaughter of a toddler
she was supposed to be child minding. Having served only 13 months of her
five-year jail sentence, Wong was released in July and now, incredibly, has been
paid £4,500 to return to Malaysia.”
(Leo McKinstry)
Does this not make the so-called ‘justice’ of Britain, and its minister, a laughing stock?
There’s no one strong enough in the ‘government’ – and I use the term very loosely - to say enough is enough. We want to reclaim our borders, stop all the free loaders claiming our hard earned money and sending it over to Europe to support their children.
No wonder Jack Straw, in the now famous BNP Question Time, refused, time and again, to answer the question about their ten-year immigration policy, the consequence of which has allowed the BNP a platform.
This present government has treated us all with contempt…..from lying in order to go to war to making a mockery of our laws.
We now live in a very angry country where people of all creeds and colour are fed up of being ignored, treated with contempt and patronized when we dare to ask questions of those we have elected into power.
